The Art of the Deal

Have you ever towed your car into a dealership as a trade in and told the salesman I need a car right now? I doubt you have, but if you did, do you think you would get the best deal you could possibly get? Do you think you would have much negotiating leverage when you threatened to tow your car to the next dealership? This administration is doing that with our oil supply. They have tried to destroy the fossil fuel indistry, drained our strategic reserve before mid-terms in order to lower gasoline costs to help the Democrats, they have kissed the ring of Saudi Arabia, they have pursued embargoes against Russia that is only helping Russia, and now they are announcing a possible withdrawal of heating oil, because people in the Northeast could freeze to death this winter because of extreme prices. Biden has begged OPEC+ to increase production, but it appears they may actually cut production. Biden has okayed increased production in Venezuela so we can send money to a dictator who is in bed with China. To top it off, there has to be oil added to the strategic reserve for national defense reasons. If you were the Saudi's wouldn't you cut production before Biden has to do that? When you hear the administration talk about petroleum companies setting the price of oil, heating oil, and gasoline, they are hoping the population does not understand how commodity prices are set. Commodity prices are set by a traded market, and are really set by the buyers. If there is more oil than we need then buyers will reduce their bid because there is plenty of oil to go around. If there is a shortage of oil, or a foreseeable shortage, buyers have to increase their bids because they need it and there is not enough to go around. In this country, if an industry colludes to reduce output to create a short market to mainpulate prices, that is a crime and people will go to jail, people have went to jail before. So, while we have plenty of oil that can be produced in this country, the Biden administration is doing all they can to prevent companies from safely producing, refining, and transporting that oil. What they are effectively doing is towing their broken down car into dealerships owned by our adversaries and begging for the best deal. Obviously, this president will never write a book called "The Art of the Deal".
