Democratic Platform

I have decided to read the Democratic Platform. The platform was not mentioned during the convention, for good reason. I really do recommend every person planning to vote read both platforms and, while reading analyze each word. When it says we will do away with amendments, such as the Hyde amendment, look up that amendment. When it says we will make every state do away with any and all laws that restricts abortions, ask yourself what that means. At the half way point it has been an interesting read. I just wanted to drop in this one statement from the Criminal Justice Reform section, page 37.

There are a couple of things I focused on:

1. The law has shielded police (In other words, that whole innocent until proven guilty crap).

2. Democrats support lowering the intent standard. (In other words, convicting a person of 1st Degree Murder requires intent, as it should, but when it comes to police officers that should not be the case).

Far too often, the law has shielded police officers who stand accused of heinous violations of civil and human rights. Democrats support lowering the intent standard for federally prosecuting law enforcement officials for civil rights violations
