Greatness
When we hear all of the negativity of what America is, let us not forget that this is America. There has been no other society with so many individuals who are willing to give their lives for people they do not know, most of those being people who have opposing views to their own. There are many American soldiers who have given their lives, and others who have witnessed foreign soil soaked with the blood of their friends and fellow warriors, only to load or to be loaded onto a plane or a ship to come back home with no fanfare and no recognition, nor do they ask for any. It is good to see one of the good guys being held up high to be recognized by his nation. On this day, 19 years ago, many young people made the decision to offer their service to their nation, and to the world, because of events that unfolded and the ultimate sacrifices that were made just the day before. No matter how much people in this nation and the world try to diminish the greatness of America, people like Sgt. Major Thomas Payne will be the reason that our nation will always be the greatest nation in the world.
